Job description
Overview

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is seeking a Construction Health & Safety Advisor to support safe working practices across projects, ensuring compliance, providing training and driving health and safety standards across the organisation.

Location: The Housing Centre, Belfast. Travel to other locations may be required.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Salary: £18.72 - £21.52 per hour.

Leave: 35 days annual leave pro rata.

Status: Temporary, ongoing.

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing construction phase plans.
  • Produce reports, collect and analyse data and attend meetings where you will communicate your findings and recommendations.
  • Design and deliver training & provide information / support to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and operation of policies and procedures.
  • Compile and maintain appropriate records, statistics, and performance indicators.
  • Participate in relevant meetings including Pre-Start meetings, Site meetings, and Risk Reduction meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree or higher qualification (level 6) in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant professional qualification And can demonstrate 2 years of relevant experience in a Construction Health & Safety Advisor / Officer role.
  • Or can demonstrate that you are currently progressing through a level 6 course in Occupational Health & Safety and have 3 years of relevant experience in a Construction Health & Safety Advisor / Officer role.
  • Significant experience in undertaking site inspections, developing reports and providing feedback on required remedial actions.
  • Experience collating pre-construction information, and reviewing plans to include Construction Phase plans, Waste Management plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Experience developing and delivering health and safety training, and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at either technical or certified level.
  • A CSR Card - (you will be expected to gain the Gold Health & Safety Practitioner CSR card on renewal).
  • Candidates must have access to a form of transport to enable the candidate to fulfil the requirements of the post.
