Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our care home team. The role is a full-time position (38.5 hours per week) with a 3 on/3 off shift pattern, focused on delivering nutritious meals with warmth and respect for Residents.

You will assist the Chef or Cook, ensure cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, and support stock control and recording food temperatures. We welcome applicants who have some kitchen experience and are committed to compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Demonstrate safety when using kitchen equipment to new team members.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after busy periods.
