Job summary

Mahony & Ward Funeral Directors in Pudsey is seeking a Funeral Service Specialist (Level One) for 20 hours per week to be the first point of contact for families, offering empathy and careful coordination of funeral arrangements.

Based at Pudsey, you will support branch operations, train in funeral conduct, and help promote funeral plans while upholding the group’s standards of dignity and service.

Qualifications

• Empathy and organisation are essential for handling sensitive family situations.
• Experience in customer service, care, or admin is beneficial (training provided).
• Strong communication, organisational and administrative skills, with comfort in handling legal paperwork.
• Proficiency with IT systems including MS Office and Outlook is expected.
• Willingness to work flexibly including weekends and on-call when needed.
• Full UK Driving Licence is desirable for travel between branches.

Responsibilities

• Support families with empathy and professionalism throughout funeral arrangements.
• Arrange funerals meeting family wishes, culture, and legal requirements.
• Oversee day-to-day branch operations and administration.
• Liaise with suppliers such as ministers, celebrants, and florists.
• Lead chapel visits and support ceremonial duties when required.
• Contribute to plan sales and promote funeral plans within the branch.
• Represent the branch in the local community and support outreach.
• Train in Funeral Conducting to assist with ceremonial duties during peak times.
• Uphold the company’s standards of professionalism, care and service.
