Dignity Funeral Directors in Bolney is seeking a Funeral Service Operative (Level One) to support families during sensitive moments. You will care for the deceased, assist Funeral Directors, and operate hearses and other vehicles at the Central Sussex Service Centre, with on-call shifts to cover nights and weekends.

The role emphasizes dignity, compassion and professional presentation, with full training, uniform and ongoing development provided.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Empathy, professionalism and composure.
• Respectful, caring approach to families.
• Physically capable of manual handling.
• Willing to work outside standard hours.
• PC literacy (Outlook/MS Office) – training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide dignified and professional care for the deceased.
• Support Funeral Directors in ceremonies and logistics.
• Drive and operate specialist vehicles.
• Maintain high presentation standards for vehicles and facilities.
• Join an on-call rota for out-of-hours support.
• Handle transfers from death location with care.
• Prepare the deceased in line with family wishes.
• Support chapel visits and family interactions.
• Perform duties with utmost care and professionalism.
