Job summary

OurCoop is seeking a compassionate funeral care assistant to support families at the scene of bereavement and coordinate care with the funeral team. You will ensure dignified preparation and presentation of the deceased, while maintaining high professional standards and empathy during difficult moments.

Role includes lifting and transferring the deceased as needed, and participation in standby/on-call rotas.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated compassion and empathy in sensitive welfare situations.
• Ability to communicate clearly with grieving families and colleagues.
• Willingness to undergo DBS check and comply with safeguarding rules.

Responsibilities

• Be the families' first point of contact at the scene of bereavement.
• Oversee preparation and presentation of the deceased with dignity and respect.
• Lift and transfer the deceased safely in line with policy and manual handling requirements.
• Participate in Standby and On-Call rota across varying shifts.
