Job summary

Central England Coop is seeking a compassionate funeral care assistant to support families at the time of bereavement. You will help prepare and present the deceased with dignity, acting as a trusted point of contact throughout the service.

You will join a dedicated funeral team, work closely with colleagues, and participate in standby/on-call shifts while upholding the highest standards of care and empathy.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to lift and transfer the deceased with care.
• Full UK manual driving licence.
• DBS check required prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for families at bereavement scenes.
• Care for the deceased including preparation and presentation with dignity.
• Provide compassionate, respectful support while delivering professional service.
• Participate in Standby and On-Call rota as part of duties.
• Support colleagues and handle duties across the funeral team.
