Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare Carlisle is hiring a Funeral Arranger on a part-time basis (18.75 hours/week), with shifts Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. You will prepare, transport and care for the deceased with professionalism, dignity and safety.

No prior funeral industry experience is required; full training is provided. Salary is £13.47 per hour plus benefits, including a competitive pension and staff discounts.

DBS checks are part of the pre-employment process to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Ability to do basic calculations and cash handling.
• Strong attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Empathy, discretion and care in handling sensitive duties.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including moving coffins with proper training.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and on the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming, reporting maintenance issues as needed.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Ensure regulated work, like selling funeral plans, is referred to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling and care of the deceased as trained.
