Job summary

Co-op Group in Daventry is seeking a part-time Funeralcare Assistant to support families and the community with compassionate service. You will train for handling duties with respect for the deceased and full health and safety adherence.

The role includes client support, documentation, and maintaining a welcoming funeral home environment. No previous experience in funeral care is required as full training is provided, with a competitive salary and excellent pension and family discounts.

Qualifications

• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Empathy and discretion in handling sensitive situations.
• Strong numerical skills and basic cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Ensure the funeral home is clean, safe, and welcoming, reporting maintenance issues as needed.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (funeral plans) to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and care of the deceased.
• Update client management applications with timely information.
