Job summary

CMG is recruiting a Casual Crematorium Assistant for Basingstoke Crematorium. The role covers chapel services, grounds maintenance and admin, including operating cremation equipment as a qualified Cremator Technician.

You will work on a casual, 0-hour contract with a salary of £13.12 per hour, contributing to respectful, compassionate service for families. We value multi-skilled individuals who can adapt to varied tasks, from bookings and invoicing to site upkeep, while upholding strict health

Qualifications

• Certified Cremator Technician with crematorium operations experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when dealing with families.
• Physically fit for manual tasks including grounds maintenance.
• Comfortable using IT systems for bookings and administrative tasks.
• Experience in customer-facing roles (hospitality, care, retail, bereavement).

Responsibilities

• Operate cremation equipment to high standards and maintain records.
• Support chapel services, set up seating, A/V, and welcome families.
• Maintain crematorium grounds and memorial areas, keeping them clean and presentable.
• Assist families with memorial enquiries with compassionate guidance.
• Manage service bookings, records and invoicing.
• Respond to phone and email enquiries professionally.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, using PPE and reporting hazards.
