Job summary

CMG, part of Life Services Group, seeks a Crematorium Assistant at Counties Crematorium. The role covers crematorium operations, from chapel services to grounds upkeep and administration. You will support families with care and compassion in a multi-skilled environment.

The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract (40 hours/week) with benefits and opportunities for training. Strong empathy and customer-service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills with families.
• Empathy when supporting grieving families.
• Comfortable performing manual tasks including grounds maintenance.
• Experience in customer-facing roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support chapel services: seating, A/V setup, greeting families.
• Assist with witness interments or ashes scatterings with sensitivity.
• Maintain crematorium grounds and memorial areas.
• Handle memorial enquiries with compassionate guidance.
• Manage service bookings, maintain records, and invoicing.
• Respond to calls and emails professionally.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and PPE usage.
