Job summary

ScotCen, the Scottish Centre for Social Research, is seeking motivated Field Interviewers to visit communities across Scotland and conduct in-home interviews on topics that matter. You will capture genuine stories that inform policy and services, with training provided and ongoing support from a dedicated team.

You’ll start with thorough training, shadowing, and role-play, then conduct interviews with warmth, empathy, and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written English.
• Excellent listening and empathy when speaking with participants.
• Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain professionalism.
• Comfort with independent field work and travelling within a defined area.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as interviews are scheduled with participants.

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area to conduct in-home research interviews.
• Guide friendly, respectful conversations and accurately record responses.
• Plan practical routes and manage travel time and mileage.
• Support shadowing and training before working independently.
