Job summary

Scottish Centre for Social Research (ScotCen) is seeking Field Interviewers to visit local residents and conduct in-home interviews on health, housing, transport, and daily life.

You’ll be trained, supported, and work at least 20 hours per week over 3 days, with availability across weekdays, evenings and weekends. Travel and longer journeys are common; you’ll record responses to inform policy and services.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband.
• Confidence using basic technology.
• At least 20 hours available per week (minimum 3 days).
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area and conduct in-home interviews.
• Record responses using a NatCen device with care and accuracy.
• Travel across assigned area; support route planning and scheduling.
• Provide thoughtful, respectful conversations and maintain ethics.
• Participate in training and regular check-ins with a named contact.
