Job summary

Scottish Centre for Social Research (ScotCen) is seeking a Field Interviewer to visit people in local areas and conduct in-home interviews on topics like health, housing, and transport. You’ll travel across Scotland, with paid travel time and mileage allowance, and you’ll be trained before working independently.

You’ll join a team that values listening to diverse voices to inform policy and services. This role offers flexible, part‑time hours and the opportunity to make a real difference.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband.
• Confidence using basic technology.
• At least 20 hours per week (minimum 3 days).
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area and conduct in-home interviews.
• Capture stories and record responses accurately.
• Travel across assigned area; occasional longer journeys.
• Complete training before handling interviews.
• Represent ScotCen as a trusted research organisation.
