Job summary

A community-focused museum in Peterborough is seeking a Community Collections Inventory Officer to enhance collections accessibility. The role involves managing inventories with community volunteers, promoting the museum's collections through social media, and supporting various collections initiatives. Candidates should have a strong heritage background and excellent ICT skills, ideally with experience in SPECTRUM procedures and volunteering management. This fixed-term role offers 37 hours per week with a salary of £24,462 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Experience in collections care or conservation in a museum environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Maximise collections, accessibility and accountability by completing inventories.
  • Programme and document collection inventories to Spectrum 5.1 standards.
  • Manage and support a team of volunteers for community engagement.

Skills

Experience of working with Heritage Collections
Understanding of collection management
Good ICT skills
Experience in cataloguing in a museum or heritage organisation
Proficient in using social media platforms
Experience of working with volunteers

Education

5 GCSEs / 'O' levels (C or above) or equivalent NVQ qualifications
A degree in a heritage related subject
A post graduate degree in Museum Studies or related subject
