Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Mentor to join our Alternative Provision team in Launceston. You will work one-on-one with young people with SEMH needs, delivering tailored learning and helping restore confidence in education.

You will deliver community-based education, provide GCSE English and Maths support, and track progress, using trauma-informed approaches to re-engage students and build essential skills.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• Education: Strong working knowledge of the GCSE English and Maths curriculum.
• Driving: Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for community travel is essential.
• Skills: High emotional intelligence, patience, strong boundary-setting, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Community-Based Education: Work out in the local community to create engaging, non-traditional learning environments tailored to the young person's interests.
• Core Subject Support: Plan and deliver targeted support for GCSE English and Maths to help students build essential academic foundations.
• Build Trust & Confidence: Act as a positive role model, using trauma-informed approaches to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream settings.
• Track Progress: Monitor emotional wellbeing, attendance, and academic milestones, adapting your approach as needed.
