Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Mentor to work with young people in Launceston, delivering community-based education and targeted GCSE English and Maths support. You will build trust using trauma-informed approaches and monitor wellbeing, attendance, and progress.

This full-time, long-term role requires a driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle for community travel, with a dynamic workday outside traditional classroom settings.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviours.
  • Strong working knowledge of the GCSE English and Maths curriculum.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for community travel.
  • High emotional intelligence, patience, boundary-setting, and excellent communication.

  • Core Subject Support: Plan and deliver targeted support for GCSE English and Maths to help students build essential academic foundations.
  • Build Trust & Confidence: Act as a positive role model, using trauma-informed approaches to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream settings.
  • Track Progress: Monitor emotional wellbeing, attendance, and academic milestones, adapting your approach as needed.

Learning Mentor - Alternative Provision

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join our Alternative Provision team in Launceston. In this role, you will work one-on-one with young people experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will deliver tailored learning, build vital core skills, and help restore their confidence in education.
