Job summary

Village Hotels is seeking a Commis Chef to join a fast-paced kitchen in Dudley. You will learn, prep, and support the Head Chef and Sous Chef during service, focusing on mastering the basics and building a culinary career.

Great attitude and energy are valued as much as experience. You will work in a brigade that supports each other, maintain high hygiene standards, and continuously learn new skills through training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• The Prep & The Line: deliver a smooth flow of work, assist chefs on your section, control portion sizes, check temperatures, and ensure plates meet company specs.
• The Standards: maintain absolute cleanliness and follow food hygiene regulations, HACCP and EHO directives to keep a safe, spotless environment.
• The Product: know the menu and have tasted/tested each dish before launch to ensure you know what you are cooking.
• The Teamwork: keep communication clear, report equipment faults, minimise waste, and coordinate with restaurant and banqueting teams to keep service moving.
