Job summary

Village Hotels is seeking a Commis Chef to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in a busy, high-volume kitchen. You will learn the basics, prep confidently, and help keep service running smoothly.

With a positive attitude and energy, you will work on your station, maintain cleanliness, and taste dishes to ensure consistency. The role offers training, development, and a clear path to more senior chef roles within the Village brigade.

Qualifications

• Attitude and energy matter more than previous experience.
• Willingness to learn in a busy kitchen and take direction.

Responsibilities

• The Prep & The Line: support chefs on your section, control portions, check temperatures, and ensure plates meet spec.
• The Standards: maintain absolute cleanliness and follow food hygiene rules (FRESH, HACCP, EHO).
• The Product: know the menu; taste and test dishes to ensure you understand what you cook.
• The Teamwork: communicate clearly; report faults, minimise waste, coordinate with restaurant and banqueting teams.
