Job summary

The Grand, Eastbourne, part of Elite Hotels, is seeking a Commis Chef to join a friendly kitchen brigade and help maintain five-star standards for guests and events.

You will work with our Head Chef, have a strong foundation in basic techniques, and develop skills across restaurant, room service and events while staying calm under pressure.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience and exposure to a variety of menu styles.
• Able to multitask and maintain quality levels at all times.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef in delivering high-standard meals for events, room service and restaurant.
• Maintain quality and consistency across menus in a busy kitchen.

Commis Chef Overview

As part of the specialist Kitchen Brigade you will join our Head Chef in making the continuous improvements to ensure our menus always meet the 5 star standards expected by our guests. You will have a good understanding of basic techniques and a desire to further develop your skills. Due to the nature of the business, you may be serving events, room service and the restaurant at the same time, so you must be flexible, adaptable and remain calm under pressure.

Commis Chef Attributes/Experience

• NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year experience and exposure to a variety of menu styles
• Able to multitask and maintain quality levels at all times
• Work well as a part of a busy, close knit kitchen brigade
• Possess a "can do" attitude, being able to work on your own initiative as required
