Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager with strong NEC contract experience to lead the commercial function across multiple civil engineering projects. You will play a key role in protecting commercial position, managing risk and driving profitability while working closely with operational and senior leadership teams.

Responsibilities
  • Managing all commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account.
  • Administration of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events and change management.
  • Preparing and agreeing valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Overseeing cost control, forecasting, cash flow and commercial reporting.
  • Managing subcontract procurement, negotiation and performance.
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risk while maximising value.
  • Providing accurate commercial reports and updates to senior management.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required.
  • Working collaboratively with project and delivery teams to ensure commercial alignment.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and their practical application.
  • Background in main contracting, civils, utilities or groundworks environments.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar (RICS desirable but not essential).
