Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking highly skilled Specialist Teachers of Cognition and Learning to join the Specialist Teaching Service. They will support learners aged 5 to 19, provide specialist assessment, advice and training to schools, and contribute to the Experts at Hand programme.

The role involves managing a caseload, working with families and professionals, recording outcomes, and participating in safeguarding duties.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of professional development in Cognition and Learning.
• Level 7 qualification related to Cognition and Learning is desirable.
• Substantial experience with cognition and learning needs including dyslexia/dyscalculia.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, teaching strategies and interventions for cognition and learning needs.
• Experience delivering training, consultation and professional development to educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, advice, consultation, training and support to school staff.
• Manage a caseload, monitor progress, and contribute to EHCs and annual reviews.
• Maintain records and contribute to service development and resource creation.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and inter-agency collaboration.
