Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist Teacher of Cognition and Learning to lead within the Specialist Teaching Service. You will support the Experts at Hand model, work with schools and partner agencies, and contribute to SEND reforms across the 5-19 age range.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status, with evidence of further professional development in Cognition and Learning.
• Substantial experience of working directly with school age children and young people with cognition and learning needs, including specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia.
• Strong knowledge of effective assessment, teaching and learning strategies, interventions and resources for cognition and learning needs.
• Proven ability to work in partnership with schools, families, other support services and agencies to improve outcomes in SEND.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, shape service development and contribute to strategic direction of the Learning, Communication and Autism Team.
• Deliver performance management and professional supervision within the team; deploy staff and deputise for the Team Manager as appropriate.
• Represent the Team Manager on multi-agency groups and initiatives; support partnerships and continuous service improvement.
• Develop training, consultations and professional development for educational settings to strengthen inclusive practice.
