Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking highly skilled Specialist Teachers of Cognition and Learning to join the Specialist Teaching Service within the Learning, Communication and Autism Team. You will support learners aged 5 to 19 with cognition and learning needs, delivering specialist assessment, advice and training to school staff.

As part of a collaborative, inclusion‑driven team, you will manage a caseload, contribute to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments, and help implement

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and QTS, with evidence of professional development in Cognition and Learning.
• Substantial experience working directly with school-age children and young people with cognition and learning needs, including dyslexia/dyscalculia.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, teaching strategies and interventions supporting attainment and inclusion.
• Experience delivering training, consultation and professional development to schools and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, advice, and consultation to schools; support learners aged 5–19.
• Manage a caseload and contribute to EHC plans, annual reviews and other statutory processes.
• Deliver training and professional development to educational settings and partner agencies.
• Support the implementation and evaluation of evidence‑informed interventions.
