Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Senior Specialist Teacher of Cognition and Learning to lead within the Specialist Teaching Service. The role focuses on delivering SEND reforms, developing capacity in schools, and improving outcomes for learners with cognition and learning needs across 5–19.

Qualifications

Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status, with evidence of further professional development in Cognition and Learning.
Level 7 qualification related to Cognition and Learning is highly desirable.
Experience of working with pupils with cognition and learning needs, including dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Responsibilities

Lead on service development and strategic partnerships for SEND across Leicestershire.
Provide professional supervision and develop staff within the Specialist Teaching Service.
Support schools to build inclusive practice and improve outcomes for learners with SEND.
Undertake specialist assessment and provide advice to schools, families and partners.
