Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is advertising a Senior Specialist Teacher of Cognition and Learning within the Specialist Teaching Service. You will lead on service development, provide supervision, and support schools to improve outcomes for children with SEND across 5–19.

The role emphasizes inclusion, collaboration with families, and partnership working. You will require extensive experience with cognition and learning needs, including dyslexia and dyscalculia, and a strong grasp of assessment

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status, with evidence of professional development in Cognition and Learning.
• Substantial experience of working with school-age children with cognition and learning needs, including dyslexia and dyscalculia.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, teaching, learning strategies, and interventions for cognition and learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead on specified work areas and contribute to service development and strategic direction.
• Provide professional supervision, develop staff, and deputise for the Team Manager as required.
• Support schools and partner organisations to strengthen inclusive practice and improve outcomes for learners with SEND.
