Job summary

Careermakers Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced CNC Miller – Programmer / Setter to join a well‑established precision engineering environment in Greater Manchester. You will program and set CNC milling centres, interpreting drawings to produce high‑value components to tight tolerances.

The role demands time‑served experience, a solid engineering qualification, and the ability to work overtime when required. An excellent salary and pension are referenced in the package.

Qualifications

• Time-served CNC machinist with relevant engineering training and qualifications.
• Ideally qualified to GCSE level with City & Guilds, ONC or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Strong experience working within a precision engineering or closely related manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to programme and set CNC milling machining centres.
• A good understanding of materials, machining methods and the production of components to tight tolerances.
• Ideally be flexible to occasional overtime when the business needs require

With continued growth and a strong order book, our client is seeking an experienced CNC Miller - Programmer / Setter to join a well-established precision engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist confident in programming and setting CNC milling machines and producing complex, high-value components to demanding standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme and set CNC milling machining centres for low-volume, high-value component manufacture.
• Interpret engineering drawings and computer-generated models to determine machining requirements.
• Apply practical knowledge of materials, tooling and machining methods to achieve accurate results.
• Produce complex precision components consistently within specified tolerances and quality requirements.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience programming CNC milling machining centres using Heidenhain and especially Hurco controls would be a distinct advantage, and proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 for 3D CAD modelling, CNC programming, toolpath generation, machining simulation, and process optimisation.
