Job summary

BT Group is seeking a Software Engineering Specialist to lead the Consumer Billing Engineering team in Belfast. The role centers on modernising billing platforms, delivering cloud-native microservices, and guiding architectural direction across enterprise systems.

The position requires deep Java/Spring Boot expertise, AWS/EKS deployment, and Oracle DB knowledge, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building scalable backend services with Java/Spring Boot and microservices.
• Proven expertise deploying cloud-native apps on AWS/EKS with CI/CD practices.
• Experience leading end-to-end engineering delivery and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead rollout of new technology across consumer billing platforms with minimal service disruption.
• Own end-to-end delivery from design to production support for billing services.
• Define engineering standards, release readiness and delivery controls for resilient changes.
• Design and evolve cloud-native billing solutions using microservices architecture and API-first patterns.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering teams.
