Overview
Job Title: Assistant Psychologist (2 posts). Hours of work: 37.5 hours (post 1) and 33.5 hours (post 2) - permanent contract. Band: 4. Network: Specialist Network, Integrated Service between Children and Young People’s Psychological Services - East Lancashire and ELCAS – Child Psychiatry. Base: The Mount, Accrington and Burnley General Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled team within a newly integrated service between Children and Young People’s Psychological Services East Lancashire (CYPPS East) and ELCAS – Child Psychiatry. You will take a role in the delivery of quality service provision that promotes and improves the well-being of children, young people and their families. Working within a systemic and holistic framework you will support the clinicians in undertaking needs led, evidence based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and young people, their families and carers.
Responsibilities
- Support clinicians in undertaking needs led, evidence based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children, young people, their families and carers.
- Co-work effectively with colleagues and manage a small caseload with support from case holders.
- Work independently with regular clinical supervision in delivering brief therapeutic interventions, undertaking school observations and conducting telephone reviews with children, young people, parents/carers on the therapies waiting list.
- Contribute to service delivery within a busy clinical service and participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Qualifications and requirements
- Suitably qualified and experienced individual with a genuine interest in working with this client group.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; be creative and innovative; enjoy working in a busy clinical service.
- Ability to co-work with colleagues and manage a small caseload with support from case holders.
- Willingness to work independently with regular clinical supervision in delivering brief therapeutic interventions, school observations and telephone reviews as described above.
- Means of transport is essential and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
