A leading health organization in Wales seeks a trained and practicing Clinical Endoscopist/Gastrointestinal Specialist Nurse in Cardiff. This role involves performing endoscopic procedures and managing patients with gastrointestinal diseases. The ideal candidate will engage in nurse-led clinics, focusing on providing holistic patient care and improving service delivery. A rare opportunity has become available in Cardiff & Vale for a trained and practicing Nurse Endoscopist to join our highly skilled team.
The post involves sessional endoscopy activity in line with JAG guidance and working as a clinical nurse specialist to manage a caseload of patients with gastrointestinal disease. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Gastroenterology Team. We are looking for a clinical endoscopist with an interest and skill in Upper GI and a willingness to develop in the care of patients with a variety of UGI conditions and treatment, but we encourage all trained Clinical Endoscopist to apply.
This is an exciting time to join our Gastroenterology team in Cardiff & Vale UHB, who deliver Endoscopy & Gastroenterology services for the population of Cardiff but also provide tertiary services for speciality activity such as Bowel Screening and RFA. The Endoscopy Service has expanded operating a 6 room Endoscopy unit in UHL, with further plans to deliver care in new ways including TNE, Capsule Sponge and Capsule Endoscopy. The team are passionate about delivering improved, safe, quality services to the population of Wales.
The main duties of the post are in the first instance to undertake diagnostic oesophagogastroscopy as well as Flexible Sigmoidoscopy/ Colonoscopy, providing a holistic service to patients undergoing such procedures whilst reducing waiting times.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist aspect requires the post holder to undertake nurse led activity in assessing histopathological and X-ray reports for patients on their endoscopy caseload and take actions according to protocol. Furthermore, the post holder would need to run nurse led clinics for a defined gastrointestinal disease undertaking clinical examination, recording patients' history and planning clinical management within agreed protocols.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
