A local government council in Morecambe is seeking a Street Cleansing Operative to keep public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. You will perform tasks such as litter collection, graffiti removal, and operate mechanical vehicles. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. The ideal candidate must have a full driving licence and share our values of trustworthiness and safety. Join us as a Street Cleansing Operative and play a vital role in keeping Lancaster’s streets, parks, and public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. Your work will directly support our vision for Clean, Green, and Safe Neighbourhoods, helping to create a positive environment that residents and visitors can be proud of.
You’ll be hands‑on with a variety of tasks including litter collection, graffiti removal, clearing fly tipping, and maintaining street furniture. Operating mechanical sweepers and cage wagons (up to 3.5 tonnes) will be part of your role, alongside seasonal duties like snow clearance and gritting. You’ll also engage with the public professionally, ensuring our community spaces remain inviting and safe.
You hold a full, clean driving licence and are ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You’re trustworthy, take pride in your work, and communicate well with others. Your willingness to learn and follow health and safety practices aligns with our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. No previous experience is needed as full training will be provided.
