Job description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Cleaning Team Leader to Join our Barnsley Schools Account in Horizon Community College, Dodworth Road, Barnsley S70 6PD – this role will be based on site.

Salary: £13.46 per hour.

Hours: 25 hours per week – 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. The role will be split between AM and PM shifts depending on requirements.

Location: Horizon Community College, Dodworth Road, Barnsley S70 6PD.

What you will do:
  • Supervise cleaners within your team, carrying out basic people management activities.
  • Carry out bi‑weekly cleaning audits for internal improvements.
  • Control stock levels and order consumables to ensure service delivery through the correct channels.
  • Operate machinery safely and in line with the guidelines and training provided.
  • Train cleaners in Amey way modules, including 6‑monthly refreshers.
  • Resolve any concerns or issues raised by team members, or escalated to your people manager if you are not able to.
  • Carry out any reasonable requests directed by your line manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
  • Support local and business zero‑carbon programmes, working towards zero‑carbon in a strategic and lean manner where appropriate.

  • Highly organised, responsible, efficient, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills, friendly, approachable with a positive work ethic.

  • Cleaning experience (preferable).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people; you will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check before commencing employment.
