Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support pupils under the direction of the class teacher and outreach staff. You will help with lesson delivery, supervise activities, and assist with administration and safeguarding duties.

You will work to promote a safe learning environment, assist with materials, and support individual or group tasks to help pupils achieve their learning goals.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or through placement.
• 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment is also acceptable.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements, development needs of children and safeguarding.
• Demonstrated planning, organisation, teamwork and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the efficient running of the class.
• Supervise pupils in specified activities and manage learning environments.
• Assist with administration, materials, charts and displays.
• Ensure pupil safety and confidentiality; report concerns to staff.
• Contribute to planning and delivering a child-centred learning experience.
