Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) seeks a Classroom Assistant to support pupils under the guidance of the class teacher. The role focuses on assisting with learning activities, managing the environment and promoting pupil engagement.

You will supervise groups and individuals, help with reading, handwriting, ICT tasks and distributing materials, and assist with general administration. Commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or via a placement.
• Alternatively, 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the efficient running of the class.
• Support pupils learning in groups or on their own, managing the learning environment.
• Supervise groups/individuals in activities, including ICT and library use.
• Provide continuity of adult care and assist with preparation of materials.
• Assist with administration and attendance tasks where needed.
