Job summary

Red Dot Search is seeking a Household Claims Handler in Bolton to manage a varied portfolio of domestic property claims from first notification to final settlement. This on-site role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with progression opportunities.

The successful candidate will have at least 12 months in household/property claims, excellent customer service, and proficiency with multiple systems. Training towards the CII and other industry qualifications are funded by the company.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months in household or property claims environment.
• Excellent customer service and computer skills across multiple systems.
• Active listening and relationship building.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• GCSE English & Maths at Grade C/4 or above; CII is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Caseload management: manage a portfolio of domestic property claims from first notification to final settlement.
• First notification & assessment: handle initial calls and confirm valid grounds to claim.
• Information gathering: collect details and documents to progress each claim.
• Policy & liability assessment: assess cover, benefits and liability per guidelines.
• Settlement negotiation: validate and negotiate settlements within authorised limits.
• Supplier management: appoint and manage suppliers supporting the policyholder.
• Fraud & underwriting awareness: identify and refer suspicious underwriting or potentially fraudulent claims.
• Customer communication: provide clear updates and progress information.
• Organisation & prioritisation: diary management across a busy caseload.
• Target achievement: meet individual and team performance targets.

Location: Bolton, BL7 (on site)
Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week — Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Salary: £24,479 – £28,000 dependent on experience

Signed off 25 August 2026 following an increase in work volume.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 12 months in a household or property claims environment. Client will also consider a trainee with strong customer service and organisational skills.
• Excellent customer service and computer skills — confident across multiple systems.
• Active listening and relationship building.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Holds or willing to work towards the CII Certificate — fully funded and supported.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
