Civil Nuclear Engineer: Build Energy Infrastructure

Job summary

WSP’s Civil Nuclear team delivers infrastructure for major UK programmes, including new build, SMR/AMR, defence facilities, and decommissioning. You will work with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental and process engineers to move projects from feasibility through detailed design and delivery.

You will operate in highly regulated environments, producing reports, coordinating interfaces, and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward chartership.
• Experience delivering civil projects across the nuclear asset lifecycle and related programmes.
• Experience in civil engineering design including site development, earthworks, drainage, highways and structural works.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Experience conducting feasibility studies, optioneering and concept design.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and coordinate interfaces.
• Understanding of design risk management, CDM regulations and safety principles.
• Strong technical report writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and review civil engineering designs for the nuclear asset lifecycle.
• Develop civil solutions for major infrastructure projects including site development and utilities.
• Undertake feasibility studies, optioneering, site assessments and concept design.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient engineering solutions.
• Integrate civil designs with structural, mechanical, electrical and process requirements.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and calculations.
• Apply design standards and quality requirements in regulated environments.
• Assist with project planning, design coordination and delivery to programme and budget.
• Build relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery partners in nuclear/defence sectors.
• Support development of graduates and early career engineers.
