Overview

Civil litigation and judicial Senior Lawyer (REMOTE) needed, £42.67ph. PAYE - Reference: 5285620.

The Litigation & Planning team is seeking an experienced local government lawyer ideally with substantial recent experience in civil litigation and judicial review. You will also be expected to offer some supervision to junior members of the team.

  • Role can be worked remotely.
  • You will ideally have judicial review and local government experience.
  • Subject to Basic DBS check.
  • Part time or full time available.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage a caseload in an area of law allocated.
  • Respond to requests for advice, representation, etc., from employees.
  • Manage all aspects of court representation as required.
  • Advise and/or present to courts, meetings, members at formal appeal hearings or as required by the County Solicitor.
  • Assume a lead role in advising clients on specialist aspects of law and practice as required (e.g. Procurement, Employment, Human Rights, Child Care, Adult Social Care, Property) and organise/participate in training events as appropriate and/or necessary.
  • Determine appeals under the Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure of the Local Government Pension Scheme and various internal appeal procedures if required.
  • Take part in the Legal Services’ Out of Hours service to provide assistance to the Emergency Duty Team on matters of Childcare and Adult Social Care.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be assigned by one of the Legal Service managers.

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
