Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial aspects of civil engineering projects from tender through to final accounts. You will collaborate with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure profitability and contract compliance.

The role requires experience in earthworks and groundworks, strong knowledge of contracts, and proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor in earthworks/groundworks/civil engineering or construction.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
• Experience measuring and valuing earthworks and related works.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the wider project team.
• Practical understanding of site operations and construction methodology.
• Proficiency with Excel and estimating/QS software.

Responsibilities

• Managing projects from tender stage through to final account.
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, payments, and payment notices.
• Monitoring costs, budgets and cash flow.
• Preparing and agreeing variations and final accounts.
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and suppliers.
• Reviewing subcontractor applications and payments.
• Preparing monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Supporting the project team with contract and commercial matters.
• Maintaining accurate cost, quantity and change records.
• Liaising with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
