Job summary

Shero Talent Co is partnering with a Nottingham civil engineering firm to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for the Commercial team. The role offers detailed cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts in a busy environment.

The successful candidate will manage subcontractor accounts, monitor costs, and work with site teams to maximise value and recovery. Relevant QS experience in groundworks or residential projects is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering or residential construction.
• Strong Excel, measurement and commercial reporting skills.
• Ability to manage valuations, variations and subcontract accounts.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to work with site teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly valuations.
• Identify, price and agree variations.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and profitability.
• Produce monthly cost-value reconciliations.
• Review drawings, specifications and contract information.
• Support procurement of subcontractors and materials.
• Attend client and internal commercial meetings.
• Manage contractual notices, contra-charges and commercial correspondence.
• Work closely with site teams to ensure all completed work is properly recorded and recovered.
• Agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Day to day you will:

• Prepare and submit monthly valuations

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within groundworks, civil engineering or residential construction
• Good knowledge of roads, sewers and housing plot works
• Strong Excel, measurement and commercial reporting skills
• Confidence in managing valuations, variations and subcontract accounts
• To be commercially aware, organised and comfortable taking ownership
• The ability to build effective working relationships with clients, site teams and suppliers
• A relevant commercial or construction qualification is preferred, although practical experience is equally important
• Full UK driving licence
