Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our civil engineering and groundworks team in Hemel Hempstead. You will own project commercial aspects from tender through final account, driving profitability while collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

The role demands strong NEC contract knowledge, 5+ years in civils/groundworks, and excellent negotiation and communication skills. Full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering and groundworks.
• Strong understanding of NEC and other standard forms of contract.
• Experience on groundworks, earthworks, drainage, foundations, roads/highways, infrastructure works, utilities, external works.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in Excel and commercial management systems.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor delivering projects across Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional with a strong background in civils and groundworks to take ownership of multiple projects from tender through to final account.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, maximising profitability, and ensuring commercial success while working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering and groundworks projects.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract agreements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• Experience working for a specialist groundworks or civil engineering contractor.
• Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Membership of RICS or studying towards professional qualification
