Our projects involve working as part of large integrated teams, including Project Managers, Asset Managers, Highways, and Traffic Signals Engineers, encompassing a broad range of civil engineering disciplines.

The Bridge and Structural Design Team is a civil engineering business unit within the Local Authority that provides a design and construction service to both the private and public sector. We also work in partnership with neighbouring local authorities, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Coventry City Council, providing technical support to new highway schemes and the maintenance of existing structural assets. Within Warwickshire County Council, the team also provides technical engineering support to other County Council Departments delivering enhancements to existing farming infrastructure and waste management facilities.

As a Degree Apprentice you will be joining our diverse engineering team, assisting other Engineers in the delivery of projects ranging from small highway improvement schemes to multi‑million‑pound infrastructure projects. You will be involved with the production of feasibility studies for new schemes; the technical design of new highway structures using a broad range of techniques including advanced structural modelling software; communicating and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and members of the public; preparing and tendering construction contracts including drawings, specifications, and contract documents; construction site supervision and contract administration.

Location

The role advertised will be a mixture of remote working and in Warwick Town Centre at the County Council’s main office complex, Shire Hall. Throughout the apprenticeship there will be opportunities to visit project sites which are predominantly located in Warwickshire, Coventry, and Solihull.

Starting Salary

£25,583pa raising to £36,363 over the course of the six‑year apprenticeship scheme.
