Job description
Overview

We are recruiting a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide consultant leadership for the award-winning Red Kite View Adolescent Inpatient Unit in West Yorkshire. The unit supports young people experiencing significant psychiatric, psychological or emotional problems that affect their interpersonal, educational and social functioning. You will work alongside community mental health teams and other services across West Yorkshire, including NHS, local authorities and third‑sector providers.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant leadership for the Red Kite View Adolescent Inpatient Unit.
  • Deliver high‑quality patient care to young people with psychiatric, psychological or emotional difficulties.
  • Collaborate closely with community mental health teams and other multi‑agency services across West Yorkshire.
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call duties (1 % category B availability).
  • Support multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical governance and development.
  • Engage in weekly academic teaching, educational and training development opportunities.
Qualifications
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC and listed on the GMC Specialist Register (or within six months).
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification.
  • Approved Doctor under section 12 and Approved Clinician/Responsible Clinician status (or ability to achieve within three months).
  • Applicants must meet the Trust's sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa to work in the UK, as the Trust only provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles.
Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge within the specialty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
