Job summary

The Chief Steward role on the British Pullman, a Belmond Train, leads the onboard team to deliver exceptional service in food and beverage, housekeeping, and guest care. From London Victoria departures to unforgettable journeys, you oversee preparations, guest arrivals, and VIP interactions.

With 1-2 years in a similar role and a relevant diploma or degree, you will inspire the team, manage inventory, and ensure every carriage reflects luxury and precision, while ensuring compliance with UK work

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably luxury hospitality.
• Diploma or degree in hospitality or related field.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
• Customer service experience and ability to resolve issues/complaints.
• Good knowledge and understanding of food and wine.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guest spaces, lounge and train are set per function sheets.
• Maintain clear communication with kitchen and other departments.
• Meet guests on arrival and obtain full details including dietary needs and occasions.
• Set/reset carriages and keep train in presentable condition.
• Build rapport with guests, VIPs and return guests, going the extra mile.
• Manage inventory stock levels and maintain PAR levels.
• Lead onboard team with leadership and service excellence.

As a Chief Steward at British Pullman, a Belmond Train, you are part of a team responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional service standards in all areas of food and beverage, housekeeping, guest satisfaction and team welfare. In this role, you will lead the onboard team with grace, style and charisma to create an outstanding guest experience. • Ensuring all guest spaces, lounge and train, are set in accordance with the information supplied on function sheets.
• Maintaining a clear channel of communication with the kitchen and all other departments.
• Ensuring that all guests are met on arrival and that their full details are obtained, including dietary needs and special occasions.
• Ensuring that all carriages are set/reset when required and possible, and that the train is left in a presentable condition at all times.
• Connecting and building rapport with guests at every possible opportunity, especially meeting and greeting VIPs and regular guests and going the extra mile for return guests.
• Managing all inventory stock levels relating to the daily operations, ensuring appropriate PAR levels are maintained. Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK.
• 1-2 years' experience within a similar role, preferably within the luxury hospitality industry.
• Relevant management or field/industry related diploma or degree.
• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate others.
• Customer service skills and experience in resolving customer issues/complaints.
