Job summary

Leonardo in Basildon is seeking a Chief Engineer - Support to lead Systems Design Authority activities for in-service products. You will guide technical risk management, sustainment and capability enhancements across the product lifecycle, coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure safety, integrity and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong background in the support, sustainment, modification or certification of complex products throughout their operational lifecycle.
• Experience of product support, service engineering or post-design support activities.
• Experience of engineering change management and configuration control of in-service products.
• Experience of obsolescence management and technology refresh programmes.
• Experience supporting safety cases and certification maintenance activities.
• Experience working with customers and end-users to resolve operational issues.
• Be a self-motivated leader and team player capable of working with minimum direction.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical baseline of in-service products, representing Leonardo with external stakeholders and internal stakeholders.
• Work with support engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and customers to resolve technical issues and maintain capability.
• Ensure compliance with performance, legislative and contractual requirements with traceable evidence.
• Chair design reviews on products, systems and services for lifecycle governance.
• Provide technical support to customer reviews, service investigations and deployments.
• Lead assessments on obsolescence, supplier changes and technology refresh.
• Lead investigations into field failures and non-conformances with corrective actions.
