Leonardo UK Ltd in Southampton seeks a Chief Project Engineer to lead the technical solution across naval RF/comms domains, deputising for the SDA and representing the company with customers to define technical solutions. You will ensure product design integrity, compliance, safety and lifecycle management across multi-disciplined teams.

The role requires developing innovative system solutions, guiding Requirements, Test and Acceptance strategies, and delivering within budgets and timescales,

Qualifications

• Strong background in development of complex military products.
• Experience in developing systems solutions within RF or Comms domains.
• Experience with Requirements, Test Qualification and Acceptance strategies.
• Experience in managing the Design Standard and associated Configuration Management.
• Experience in gaining Design Certification and Customer Acceptance.
• Ability to develop technical solutions compliant with requirements within budgets and timescales.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with SMEs and End Users of various nationalities.
• Self-motivated leader and team player with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution for all phases of the solution development by representing Leonardo with external stakeholders and internal stakeholders to ensure all elements of Product development are considered as part of the integrated solution.
• As part of the product integrity delivery team keep up to date on related processes and requirements.
• Work closely with development teams and supply chain to ensure the overall solution meets End Users’ needs by understanding their Concept of Use and Operation.
• Ensure products are compliant with performance, legislative and contractual requirements, with a traceable evidence set in place.
• Support the assembly of evidence and stakeholder agreement to the approval of Design Integrity certification.
• Ensure robust quality, performance, cost and time trade-offs are undertaken and align with budgets/timescales.
• Chair design reviews on Products, Systems and Services to ensure technical soundness and lifecycle management alignment.
• Provide technical direction, control, evaluation and recommendations regarding risks and opportunities.
• Define strategic capability improvements and cost initiatives.
