Job summary

Leonardo is recruiting a Lead/Principal Systems Engineer in the UK, Basildon. You will steer systems engineering governance, guide teams across lifecycle stages, and ensure architecture options are well informed by modelling techniques.

The role requires strong leadership and stakeholder engagement within a complex defence context. The position offers hybrid working from Basildon with potential cross-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Lead/Principal Engineer or similar leadership role.
• Experience applying governance and guidance on Systems Engineering LCM processes.
• Experience in Integrated Project Teams delivering engineering artefacts.
• Proven ability to manage and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, decision-making and communication skills.
• Motivation and determination to deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Influence technical direction and stakeholder satisfaction across Engineering artefacts.
• Lead systems engineering governance on the project.
• Coach on Systems Engineering practices across lifecycle stages.
• Ensure MBSE/MBD approaches are used to inform architectures and solutions.
• Promote agile mindset and continual learning in the team.
• Collaborate with peers UK-wide to drive improvements.
