Job summary

Leisure People is seeking an Assistant General Manager to oversee several leisure facilities in the Luton area. The role focuses on leading operational teams, overseeing health and safety, programming, and customer service in a dynamic multi-facility environment.

You will drive improvements in community health and wellbeing while delivering financial targets and contributing to ongoing site expansions. A strong leadership background in sports/leisure is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing multi-faceted venue operations including health and safety.
• Experience in coaching, developing, leading and organising large teams.
• Experience in managing budgets and working with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the operational teams, including recruitment, development and performance management.
• Take the group lead on health and safety, Aquatics Programming or Group Exercise Programming as applicable.
• Monitor and improve programmes to meet community needs and financial targets; support new projects/events.
• Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure cleanliness, safety, compliance and good working order.
• Support marketing and promotion of centre programmes and activities.
• Handle customer enquiries and complaints with high service levels.
• Work a pattern of 8:00–16:00 or 12:00–20:00, Monday to Friday, and one in three weekends.
• Provide cover for General Manager in their absence.
