Job summary

CrossReach in Scotland seeks a Centre Worker to support children under 12 and their families. You will build trusting relationships, provide practical and emotional help, and create a safe, nurturing environment for families to thrive.

You’ll work with social work teams and other agencies, signpost services, and keep accurate records while contributing to service development. A Christian ethos and PVG checks are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children and/or families.
• Hold SVQ2/HNC in Social Work, Social Care, Early Years or equivalent.
• Knowledge of GIRFEC, Realising the Ambition, SSSC Codes of Practice, UNCRC or The Promise is advantageous.
• Willingness to work towards the qualification.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents and carers.
• Create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for families.
• Work with families to understand needs, strengths and challenges.
• Help families develop practical strategies to support home life and wellbeing.
• Use play and nurturing to support children’s wellbeing and development.
• Collaborate with social work teams and other agencies to connect families with services.
• Signpost families to additional resources when needed.
• Recognise and respond to safeguarding and wellbeing concerns.
• Support and guide volunteers in the service.
• Keep accurate records and contribute to planning and review of support.
• Bring ideas and experience to help develop the service.
