Job summary

The Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Cook to support meal preparation and cooking across units, ensuring high standards of hygiene and customer service.

The role involves assisting the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor, participating in menu planning, portion control and stock management, and training junior staff while maintaining HACCP compliance and safe kitchen practices.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification
• Two years' experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment
• Knowledge of HACCP
• Willingness to undertake job related training

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals and full range of cooking activities
• Record keeping and stock management
• Control of hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen, including temperature recordings
• Supervision or shared supervision of other staff
• General kitchen duties including cleaning and equipment setup
• Assist in promoting the service to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake
