Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Catering Assistant to actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the supervision of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role involves food preparation, basic cooking, serving meals, maintaining hygiene, and promoting meals to pupils and staff.

You will work as part of a team to ensure a hygienic, efficient service, while complying with all relevant regulations and school policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking including reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal.
• Maintaining contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables and serving points.
• Completing duties in line with statutory requirements and school policies.
• Cleaning the kitchen/servery, dining room and equipment.
• Recording temperatures for control and safety purposes.
