Job summary

The Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in preparing and cooking meals. You will work as part of a team to ensure a hygienic, efficient service and contribute to customer satisfaction and sales within the unit.

The role requires hands-on cooking, adherence to HACCP, selection and preparation of meals, and occasional supervision of staff. Training and career development opportunities are available in a supportive environment built

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• Willingness to undertake job related training

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals and menus.
• Record keeping and stock control as required.
• Maintain hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen, including temperature recording.
• Assist in supervising other staff and training where needed.
• Promote the service to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake.
